Wunderhorse, Live @ The Forum

Last week was a good week for me, and less for my banker, with scoring multiple tickets for my late 2024/2025 gigs schedule. One of these was for the good lads of Fontaines DC who miraculously decided to have a show in my neck of the woods – or at least in the right part of Europe.

Everytime I score a ticket, my first reflex after bouncing for joy is to check if the guests have already been announced. I’ve found and fell in love with so many bands that way. If you need new music, what’s better than your favs suggestions really?

And there they were, Wunderhorse.

A familiar name I had seen quite a few times floating around social media lately – in a good way – which made me even more curious.

Didn’t take long for me to realize that it’s the kind of band I know nothing about but all it takes is a single listen to want to know everything about them.

You know that live is where I live and Wunderhorse definitely delivers everything I need to happily thrive.

Rock never sounded better on a Monday morning, or at least for quite some time. Big guitars, one hell of a rhythm section, enticing melodies and that voice – I’m such a sucker for a particular tone – THAT VOICE. Perfectly balanced with energy and intent, and that little extra dash of passive aggressiveness just adding to the music magic. Lordy. That is indeed a really nice tone.

This one, ‘Midas’, is their latest release, but I can only recommend that you give their work a full listen. I’ve been diving head first into their album ‘Cub’ as fast as the songs allowed me to, and it will be on repeat for quite some time.

There are bands that were born to kick your arse in a good way, this is one of them. If you need a little introspection and to get in touch with those raw emotions buried within – you better not skip a single track because these guys will definitely take you places.

I’m glad that this gig isn’t happening for a few months, I’m gonna need some time to get ready for the emotional damage Wunderhorse and Fontaines DC on a single night will bring me.

Better keep practicing then.

Enjoy.
